Data-Ready Reporting for Data Integration
As a key capability of PowerCenter Advanced Edition, data-ready reporting, provided by PowerAnalyzer, provides organizations with robust reporting that boosts developer productivity. With its rich features, this business reporting software solution provides cross-enterprise visibility of an organizations metadata residing in disparate systems, data flows and integration processes. With Informatica, developers can expose valuable metadata to enrich and speed integration, track and tune data flow performance, and quickly identify failure of integration processes.
Leveraging the data-ready reporting capabilities in PowerCenter, organizations can:
- Data-driven report creation— Speed delivery of relevant data to users. An intuitive report wizard simplifies creation and maintenance of role-based reports.
- Real-time Metrics and Alerts —Respond to change as it occurs with real-time sourcing and reporting.
- Excel Integration —Drive accuracy throughout the integration lifecycle. Excel integration captures critical metadata and supports analysis of integration processes.
Capabilities
Dashboards
Data-ready dashboards display critical information that developers or business users need into a single interface. When users log in they are taken to their Personal or Default dashboard, which consist of Alerts, data views, and links. Dashboard filters increase productivity by reducing the number of dashboards that developers need to build and maintain, and allowing users to quickly change their dashboard views without having to navigate to additional dashboards. In addition, users can easily create personal dashboards using drag and drop functionality and a variety of templates.
Data-Driven Report Creation
Providing the ability to easily create and modify reports is key to user acceptance. To ensure quick, error-free data delivery, PowerAnalyzer business reporting software offers a simple, five-step Report Wizard. This patent-pending, data-driven approach allows users to first select the data that is important to them, and then automatically filter and display only the fields relevant to them. This filtering capability limits the list of elements available for selection—saving time and ensuring fast access by end users.
Real-Time Metrics and Alerts
Two sourcing options are offered to provide indicators and alerts that update in real time within the interface:
- Direct from JMS —Source directly from a Java Message Service (JMS) pipe. As data is fed through the JMS queue, PowerAnalyzer picks up messages and displays results on the dashboard, achieving zero-latency. This allows for easy preview or end user consumption of real-time data.
- Leveraging PowerCenter and PowerCenter Connect — Employs the real-time capabilities to source streaming data from an EAI bus (e.g. TIBCO, MQSeries, webMethods) and feed it directly into the dashboard for rapid data preview. This tight integration allows data integration developers to easily leverage their enterprise data even further.
Robust Excel Integration
Advanced Excel functionality enables users to conduct "what if" analysis, and leverage templates and complex macros that they have previously created. With this high level of integration, users are assured their spreadsheets contain current, accurate data-solving the problem of different Excel spreadsheets telling multiple versions of the truth.
PowerAnalyzer offers the highest level of integration with Microsoft Excel including:
- Formatted Export to Excel— Exports data into new Excel spreadsheet, retaining all formatting and charting applied within the interface.
- Export to Excel Template— Builds a direct link from Excel templates into PowerCenter for on-demand data updates. These templates can include extra rows, calculations, and macros and can be uploaded into PowerCenter, driving consistency among users.
- Export to Pivot Table— Exports to new pivot table in Excel for alternate analysis.
- Embedded Excel— Enables in-place use of all Excel functionality without leaving the PowerCenter interface.
